Type2 Backpack



A versatile tool for climbers and alpinists throughout the seasons, made from two panels of Cordura fabric held together by a single quadruple stitched load bearing seam. The result is an extremely minimal backpack, lighter than similar packs from leading outdoor brands but infinitely tougher. Despite simple design, this pack has everything you need for alpine mountaineering, carrying ice tools, crampons, sleeping pads, ropes, skis, and whatever else you might need with elastic shock cord and four removable compression straps.

Three volumes - 30, 40 or 50 litres

Sizing for everyone - available in four sizes (details on order form) so that you get a backpack that really fits. Don’t see a size to fit you? Get in touch and I’ll sort out a custom size at no extra cost

Comfortable back system - dual density ergonomic shoulder straps using top of the range foam from the Medical Orthotics industry. Coupled with strippable bivvy pad and framesheet, and 40mm webbing hipbelt with fabric fins, comfort doesn’t need to be complicated.

Water resistant quick access - roll top / draw cord opening keeps the water out but lets you get into your kit quick. Draw cord baffle made from 420D nylon with split cord opening; it won’t break like the flimsy baffles and eyelets you see on most packs.

Weight (full weight depending on options) - 30l/780g, 40l/850g, 50l/1050g

Simple layout - one internal pocket with key clip fits an OS Map, headtorch and other essentials

Custom features - need something a bit more? I offer two custom features:

External access zip pocket - YKK #5 AquaGuard zip for small items up to OS map size. Can be positioned on top of the back panel or front panel of the backpack.

Side access zip - chunky YKK #10 AquaGuard zip along the side of the pack. Useful for outdoor photographers to access cameras and snowsports enthusiasts to quickly access avalanche tools
